Officer Jared Wilson of the Richland Center Police Department reports, Saturday, June 6th turned out to be a great day for the 3rd annual Cops and Bobbers Fishing Derby at North Park Pond. The Richland Center Police Department, in partnership with the Richland Center Park and Recreation reported 84 kids participated and caught several fish. Awards were presented to anglers who caught the biggest bass, biggest panfish, smallest fish, and lastly the most fish caught by one fisher-girl, who reeled in 18 on her own!
Several local businesses sponsored this event and every participant left with a prize. Local officers served hotdogs to families during the award ceremony. Special thanks to the high school aged park and rec judges who measured and tallied the fish. Chief Billy Jones stated that this event is a great way for officers to build positive relationships with our community. Be sure to check out the Richland Center Police Department Facebook page for photos from the event.
