Ithaca/Weston won a first round of the WIAA playoff game 34-14 over visiting Waterloo. The number one seed jumped to a 14-0 halftime lead over the 8th seeded Pirates. Quarterback Jacob Keller ran for a 62 yard touchdown in the first quarter and Landon Walmer plunged across from the one yard line for the second touchdown. Kicker Carter Pluemer kicked both conversions. I/W got the ball to start the second half and capped off a drive with a Jacob Keller to Caden Keller touchdown to make it 21-0 with the extra point. The Pirates Gavin Schroud scored on an 18 yard touchdown and Emmanuel Ugorji kicked the extra point and it was 21-7. Spencer Nelson made the score 28-7 after a 5 yard run with 2:35 remaining in the 3rd quarter. Ithaca/Weston scored on a 65-yard pass play from Keller to Keller to make it 34-7.
Later I/W had a chance to officially put it away before a fumble gave it back to the Pirates. Waterloo was able to get in the end zone again on a Schroud 15 yard run to make it 34-14 with 4:26 to play.. The hosts were able to wind the clock down for the win which is the 9th of the season.
The season came to an end for Waterloo, and they finish the season at 3-7. Ithaca/Weston will play host to Blackhawk/Warren which defeated Cashton on Friday night during the 2nd week of the WIAA post season. Once again, the final on Friday night at Ithaca was 34-14 with Ithaca/Weston continuing a memorable season.
