Ethel L. Moyle, Calumet

Ethel L. Moyle, a lifelong resident of Calumet, passed away peacefully in Wausau, WI
on September 16, 2026, surrounded by family, following a brief illness.
Ethel was born December 12, 1937, to Frank and Velma Dodge in Kearsarge, Michigan.
Upon graduation from Calumet High School with the class of 1956, she worked as a
telephone operator with Michigan Bell until her marriage to Donald "Donny" Moyle of
Calumet on October 26, 1956. Ethel was a stay-at-home mother raising her three
children until they were in high school, then began working at several retail stores in the
area, including Sears, Carpenter's, Calumet Floral, and Zales.
Ethel was an avid volunteer in the community, serving with the Election Commission as
a poll worker, the Hockey Association, Calumet Figure Skating, 4-H, and the Extension
Club. She logged many hours at the Aspirus Hospital Gift Shop and worked with the
Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Laurium and Calumet United
Methodist Churches.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Donny; son, David; parents; and siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue (Jon) Cadwell of Westmoreland, TN; daughter,
Patti Vickers of Franklin, TN; daughter-in-law, Amy Machiela of Lake Linden, MI; her
three granddaughters, Kaylee (Morgan) Vickers of Phoenix, AZ, Kelsey (Bill) Vickers of
Soddy Daisy, TN, and Kaitlyn Vickers of Franklin, TN; and great-grandchildren, Barrett,
Callen, Cedar, and Reid. Ethel is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Alice Ziemnick,
Janet (Mike) Dudenas, Margaret (Vern) Axford, and Mary Rose Moyle, as well as
numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Jason Lund and Margo O'Brien for always being available
to answer the call.
A small family graveside service will be held at Lake View Cemetery in Calumet on
Friday, September 25th at 11:00 AM, where she will be laid to rest. The family requests
that in lieu of expressions of sympathy, donations be made to the Copper Shores Meals
on Wheels program or the Aspirus Hospital Auxiliary.
