Baraboo Hometown Pharmacy has officially closed its doors

Baraboo Hometown Pharmacy has officially closed its doors. The sudden announcement comes as a shock to the local community, but strict contractual obligations during the transition to Walgreens legally prevented the pharmacy from sharing the news earlier.

According to the pharmacy's team, the closure was driven by the unsustainable practices of Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs).  In a comment posted on social media, pharmacy staff stated PBMs have continuously slashed prescription reimbursement rates below the actual costs of acquiring and dispensing medications, placing severe financial pressure on independent healthcare providers.

To ensure uninterrupted care, all active patient records and prescriptions have been transferred directly to Walgreens at 505 Broadway St in Baraboo. Patients requiring refills can reach Walgreens directly or contact an alternative preferred pharmacy to request a prescription transfer.
