You’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat

RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- The historic Thrasher Opera House is inviting community members and visitors to escape the summer heat and step back into the dark waters of Amity Island. On Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., the Thrasher will host a special screening of Steven Spielberg’s 1975 masterpiece, JAWS.

As part of Thrasher’s annual Summer Film Series, admission to this cinematic classic is entirely free to the public, courtesy of generous support from event sponsor Horicon Bank.

Doors will open at 2:30 p.m., allowing moviegoers to grab their seats and concessions before the iconic, suspenseful chords of John Williams’ score begin at 3:00 p.m. Rated PG, JAWS stars Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, and Richard Dreyfuss in the ultimate summer thriller about a giant great white shark terrorizing a New England resort town.

“We love being a gathering place for the Green Lake community, especially during the beautiful summer months,” said Rachael Avery, Executive Director. “Bringing classic films back to our historic stage is a wonderful nod to Thrasher’s roots as a community movie house in the early 20th century. We are incredibly grateful to Horicon Bank for partnering with us to keep these events free and accessible to everyone.”

No tickets or advanced reservations are required, but seating is limited to a first-come, first-served basis inside the air-conditioned, 200-seat historic theater located at 506 Mill Street.
